Most practice software has AI in it now, and staff often use tools of their own too. In this session we go through your main system properly, then as many of the others as we have time for, so you know what’s there and what it does with client information.
Who it’s for
Firms that want to know what AI is already in use before deciding anything else.
It works best with two or three people who know the firm’s systems between them.
What happens
Before the session, you list the main systems your firm uses, such as practice management, documents, accounts and email. I’ll also give you a short anonymous survey to send to staff, asking which AI tools they use for work.
In the session, we start with your main system and go through it properly. We find the AI features in it, and for each one we look at what it does, whether it’s switched on, and what client information it touches. After that we work through as many of your other systems as we have time for, and for some firms that’s all of them. We finish by adding in anything that came through the staff survey.
Where something isn’t clear, we write down the question to put to the vendor.
What you leave with
- A picture of the AI in your main system, and any others we get to
- What each feature does with client information
- A list of questions for the vendor, where the answer isn’t clear yet
- What the staff survey turned up about the tools people use on their own
- The method, templates and survey, so you can do your other systems yourselves, or we can go through them together in another session

Why me
I’ve spent years on the other side of this, building AI products and adding new features to them. So I know where AI tends to appear, and where to look when a vendor hasn’t made it obvious. More about me
What comes next
Once you know where AI is used, Where does your firm sit on AI? helps the partners decide what the firm wants to do about it. If you’d rather someone kept the picture up to date as vendors add new features, that’s part of retained advisory.
If you run a professional body or a group of firms, this session also runs as a webinar.
