When a client asks about AI, it helps if everyone in the firm gives the same answer. In this session we agree what that answer is, with a short version for reception and intake staff.
Who it’s for
Firms where clients have started asking about AI, or that would like to be ready before they do. That might be a client asking whether AI was used on their matter, a tender or panel questionnaire, or someone at reception being asked a question they can’t answer.
It works best with the people who talk to clients and write tenders, such as the managing partner, a couple of partners and whoever handles business development.
What happens
Before the session, send over any questions about AI you’ve had from clients or in tenders, if you’ve had any, and anything the website already says. If you’ve done Where is AI used in your firm?, bring that too.
In the session, we go through the questions you’ve had and the ones you’re likely to get, based on the kind of work you do and the clients you work for. Then we agree honest answers, based on what the firm and its tools actually do with AI.
From there, we shape the answer for wherever it’ll be used: in conversation, in tenders, on the website and at reception.
If anything needs to go into your engagement terms, then you’ll need to speak to your own lawyers.
What you leave with
- The firm’s agreed answer on AI, written up after the session
- Versions for tenders and the website
- A short version for reception and intake staff
- The template, so you can update the answer yourselves when your tools change

Why me
At the BBC and NatWest, I worked with PR, marketing and senior leaders on how our AI products were explained to the public. The wording had to be true to what the product actually did, fit with how the organisation wanted to communicate, and make sense to someone without a technical background. This session does the same job for your firm. More about me
What comes next
If the partners haven’t agreed the firm’s position on AI yet, Where does your firm sit on AI? is the place to start. The answer for clients follows from that.
If you run a professional body or a group of firms, this session also runs as a webinar.
